Material Culture Field trip, 11/2/2014 by Susan Rachlin

On Sunday, November 2nd, eleven adventurous club members braved the high winds and cold weather to photograph the Material Culture store on Wissahickon Avenue. Material Culture is a 600,000 square foot building filled with an eclectic collection of furniture, art work, rugs, larger than life sized animal sculptures, and just about anything else you can think of. With so much space to cover, we spread out and explored for several hours, never running out of interesting objects to shoot. With such diverse subjects, we put our skills to a real test. Some practiced their use of depth of field, and others worked on low light and tripod photography. Fun was had by all.

And, of course, a morning of shooting was followed by a delicious meal -some stayed at Material Culture but others went to the Trolley Car Diner.
