On September 17th, 19 excited photographers explored the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge in Philadelphia. Led by local photographer and Refuge volunteer Ned Levi, the group walked about 3.5 miles around the impoundment looking for migrating birds. We found a variety of egrets and herons, as well as some pretty landscapes and plants, including wild rice. We even spotted an oil covered Canada goose, which sparked an investigation by Refuge staff and Tri-State Bird Rescue.
As usual, the shoot was followed by a great meal at a local restaurant.
