Two
powerful but easy-to-use image cataloguing and processing programs
were recently announced. Picasa2, for PCs, is available free
of charge from Google (see link). iPhoto 5, part of Apple's
new iLife '05 suite, is for Macintosh computers and costs $80
(although it's included free when you purchase new Apple computers).
